The Old Barn Board

The thought of getting your hands on some barn board is always exciting. Coming up with new ideas as to what you can make with it. We decided to make a picture frame. A lot harder than we expected. Working with old wood and with its warped, chipped characters make it difficult for those who want the perfect mitre, but in the end, it all turned out pretty great. We are very excited with our end results.

An old Lamp a New life

What a wonderful way to bring the old to life. I was on a tight budget in the summer. I saw these old lamps at a yard sale. Got them for $5.00. They were the couples wedding gift 40 years ago. I knew that I could do something with them.
I went to Home Depot and got white spray paint ($7.00) and had some fabic laying around the house. I'd say the fabric was $12 for a meter. I used about 1/2 a meter. I traced the lamp shade on newspaper for the shape. I used that as my template for the fabric.
Using my hot glue gun (ouch) I glued the fabric to the inside of the shade and used CLOTHS PINS to secure the glue and fabric (not my fingers to burn).
Presto!!!!!! Now we have great shades for our family room
